IPO Subscription FAQ
What is QIB in IPO subscription?
QIB stands for Qualified Institutional Buyer — mutual funds, FIIs, banks, and insurance companies. QIB subscription indicates institutional appetite for the IPO and often signals confidence in the issue.
What is NII / HNI and what are bNII and sNII?
NII (Non-Institutional Investors) or HNI (High Net-worth Individuals) are individuals bidding above ₹2 lakh. Since 2022 SEBI split NII into: bNII (big NII, above ₹10 lakh) and sNII (small NII, ₹2–10 lakh). Each sub-category has a separate allotment pool.
What is the Retail category?
Retail Individual Investors (RII) are investors bidding up to ₹2 lakh. They get a separate allotment quota (usually 35% of issue). Higher retail subscription increases competition for shares.
How is the subscription multiple calculated?
Subscription multiple = Total Shares Bid ÷ Total Shares Offered in that category. A multiple of 5.0x means investors bid for 5 times the shares available. Figures update throughout the bidding period and are sourced from BSE/NSE exchange data.
